Marty Balin’s illustrious career has spanned decades. As the co-founder and featured vocalist for both the 1960’s supergroup Jefferson Airplane and the 1970’s chart topper Jefferson Starship, Marty wrote countless hits for both bands; “It’s No Secret”, “Plastic Fantastic Lover,” and the iconic rock anthem “Volunteers” for Airplane and “Count On Me,” “Runaway” and the mega hit “Miracles” for the Starship. His distinctive voice and musical style helped both bands to earn a place in rock history. Marty released his first solo album in the 1990’s, producing the Top 40 Hits “Hearts” and “Atlanta Woman.” During the 80’s and 90’s Marty continued to work with his Airplane partners, including reuniting with Grace Slick and Paul Kantner for a triumphant reunion tour.

The same vision that Marty had when he launched Jefferson Airplane is what guides him today, along with a solid belief that art and music can be used as a force for positive social change. 2012 finds him concentrating on his own career, recording an acoustic CD of his hits and touring both as a duo and with a full band.
